(June 26th) Day 21 Cooperstown, NY & the National Baseball Hall of Fame drove 308 miles
Originally I was going to go to Cooperstown next week, but altered my plan so I would spend more time with Margaret while she was here.
It's funny that I am am not a baseball fan anymore, not much of a fan of ANY sports (except golf, I guess) at the professional level anyway. I LOVED baseball until the owners locked out the players and cancelled the 1994 World Series. That was the year I realized that Major League baseball doesn't really care about their fans, they only care about money, owners and players alike.
The other thing about baseball is the way it is played with all the metrics involved now. It's strikeouts & home runs and little else matters anymore. How boring!
ANYWAY, Cooperstown made me feel like a kid again! There was much to see & read about the years I did love baseball and my favorite players growing up. It was well worth $ 20 (plus parking). Cooperstown itself is a pretty (and OLD) town that really puts on the dog (so to speak) for their tourists. I would recommend it to anyone that is travelling anywhere near that area.
Cooperstown is actually pretty close to Syracuse, and almost all of the mileage for today was after my visit. I drove to southern New Hampshire (through Vermont) for my next day of golf.
The pictures are ones I took at the Hall of Fame. Most have a little of the fisheye effect, but that's why I am downloading pictures from golf course websites, because I am NO photographer.
The players are some of my favorites and I AM a baseball history buff. The picture of Warren Spahn's high leg kick intrigued me and I wish Satchel Paige's picture did have the light glare on it. The last picture relates to something from my Omak years that only some people will understand, and that's all I'm going to say about that.
